Procedure for Policy #33

 

The following procedure outlines the sequence of events and actions that should guide an individual in preparing and submitting a request for the Faculty Education Assistance Grant funding.

 

1.      Applicant prepares an application and statement of intent about the course/program and submits it to the Faculty Enrichment Committee.  Section VII “Current Study Program Information” and Section VIII “Justification” on the application must include:

§         Rationale

§         Benefit to the College

§         Applicant’s ability to complete the program (scheduling issues, motivation, impact on primary assignment, etc.)

§         Estimated Cost

§         Program plan (potential start date, end date, schedule of course work, etc.)

 

2.      Faculty Enrichment Committee responds in writing to applicant (favorable or not)

 

3.      Approved faculty member signs letter of agreement with College.*

 

4.      Approved faculty member applies to program.

 

5.      Faculty enrolls in program according to submitted plan and pays all tuition and fees.

 

6.      Upon successful completion of a term’s courses, faculty member submits a report, grades and status to the chair of the Faculty Enrichment Committee to obtain reimbursement.

 

Principles of agreement for reimbursement program:

 

v     All approved participants must communicate their status and progress according to their approved plan to the Faculty Enrichment Committee once each term or twice per year whichever is more frequent.

 

v     Significant deviations from an accepted and approved plan must be submitted and approved by the Faculty Enrichment Committee (includes suspension of activity or progress for any reason, change of major focus, etc.)

 

v     For those pursuing an academic degree or other long-term certification program (diplomate, etc.), there is a three-year commitment to the College after the completion of the degree or diploma (1/3 of the total cost is forgiven for each year of service).
