WelcomePalmer College of Chiropractic enjoys professional accreditation for its Doctor of Chiropractic Program on each of its three campuses through the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) Commission on Accreditation (COA). Currently, the campuses in Davenport and Florida benefit from regional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) (http://www.ncahigherlearningcommission.org/). Palmer's status is enhanced through NCA accreditation to prospective students and faculty, affiliated institutions, funding agencies, donors, state and local policy-makers, and key constituencies and stakeholders in the community. Accreditation is the mark of a quality educational institution, capable of delivering quality instruction to its students and outstanding service to the community. Every institution in the United States that receives federal financial aid for its students, such as Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, and Work Study funding, must be accredited. Regional accreditation also allows Palmer College to offer undergraduate (BS) and graduate degrees (MS) beyond the Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Every ten years, Palmer College conducts a self-study in preparation for reaffirmation of regional accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission. That process is now underway in preparation for a site visit in May 2009. The campus will benefit from the accreditation process itself, which entails a great deal of self-examination, internal assessment and quality improvement initiatives. Through this process, Palmer College hopes to discover, or better understand, its successes, problem areas, and issues and concerns as it plans for its future as the Fountainhead of chiropractic. Palmer College will also be applying for regional accreditation for the West branch campus in this accreditation cycle. Preparing for our institutional accreditation affirmation requires cooperation and assistance from all academic and non-academic units on campus. A Steering Committee of faculty, administration, and staff was appointed in September 2007 to organize, coordinate, and implement the process. Subcommittees have been formed to investigate five major criteria:
