September 9 vs. Minneapolis Menagerie
(5-42)
On a beautiful
autumn day, Minneapolis came to Credit Island to contend
with the powerful Palmer Womens' Squad. The scrums
were evenly matched, but the Menagerie were able to
capitalize on their plays in the back to create overlaps.
This led to Minneapolis' eight tris and two points on one
extra kick.
For the Lady
Dragons, Lindsey Murray was able to break through for the
loan tri. Unfortunately, Palmer was unable to bring
any other plays to fruition with a score.
Overall, fun was
had by all and the Menagerie gave a great rendition of
Saturday Night Live.
September 23 vs. Luther North (22-0)
On a misty fall
afternoon, we met Luther College in a clash at the
University of Iowa's rugby pitch. In the first half,
the game was off to a slow start until a blind-sided play
ended in a tri by LJ Dukes. Mere minutes later,
Lindsey Murray broke away along the right touchline for
the second tri of the match. Shannon Baird was able
to punt the ball through the uprights for the two point
conversion.
After regrouping
from sloppy play at the half, we were better able to
capitalize on plays despite the sir making it a tutorial
game for Luther. Paige Wiese was able to take in our
third tri on the game before Emily Frerichs scored with
six minutes of gametime left.
Even though
Luther chose not to stay for the post-game social, we had
a great time hosted by the Iowa Women's Rugby Club.
September 30 vs. Milwaukee Scylla (0-0)
Due to a lack of numbers for the road trip, Palmer forfeited this match giving Milwaukee the win.
