15. Advance Standing/Transfer StudentPolicy Number: 15 Doctor of Chiropractic Program: Applicants for admission to Palmer College of Chiropractic; who have been enrolled in another Doctor of Chiropractic, or professional healthcare program (e.g., D.C., M.D., D.O., D.D.S., D.P.M.) will be considered a transfer student. Transfer students must meet the following: The transfer student must meet Palmer admissions requirements that were in force on the date they originally enrolled in the program from which the transfer is being made. Students requesting transfer must come from a Doctor of Chiropractic program accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education (C.C.E.), or from a U.S. regionally accredited college, which offers another health care professional degree. To matriculate, students requesting transfer must have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale in previously completed first professional degree coursework. Applicants in good academic standing but not meeting the minimum GPA may appeal to the Director of Student Academic Affairs for transfer consideration. The transfer credits must be substantially equivalent in credit hours, content and quality to that of Palmer College of Chiropractic. Only credits with a grade of “C” or better are considered for transfer. Each course will be individually evaluated and credit will be granted only when approved by the College. Credits accepted for transfer must have been awarded within five years of the date of admission to Palmer College. Older credits in certain areas may be accepted if the transferring student holds an earned doctorate in one of the health sciences or a graduate degree in an academic discipline closely related to the health sciences. Credits used to satisfy the minimum prerequisites for admission may not be used for advanced placement credit. The transferred course carries credit equal to the course for which credit is granted; the earned grade is not transferred, and thus, the course does not affect the student’s grade point average at Palmer College of Chiropractic. Students transferring from another chiropractic program must complete the Chiropractic College Transfer Form available from the Admissions Department. Students’ transferring from non-U.S. professional healthcare programs must submit a credential evaluation report from World Education Service (W.E.S.), Inc, or its equivalent. In order to receive degree from Palmer, a student must have satisfied all academic and clinical requirements and must have earned not less than the final 25 percent of the total credits required for the D.C. degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic, allowing up to 75 percent of the total credits through advanced standing. Test-Out:Test-out examinations are applicable for basic science courses only that were not used to meet admissions requirements. Test-outs are offered at the discretion of the individual faculty member. Course offerings within the Chiropractic Sciences (Radiology, Technique, and Diagnosis), Chiropractic Philosophy and Chiropractic Business and Practice Management Curriculums are not eligible for test-out examinations. This practice assures that all Palmer graduates are afforded the same Chiropractic-Centered instruction which is the cornerstone of a Palmer education. |
