Doctor of Chiropractic Program:

  • A student is in good academic standing if the student has fewer than two active failing grades and maintains the minimum cumulative grade point average requirement per academic term, as shown below:

Academic Warning    

A student, regardless of cumulative grade point average, who is placed on academic warning for the following academic term of enrollment,

  1. has two active failures and/or
  2. failed the same class twice.

Academic Probation

A student who has not maintained the minimum requirement cumulative grade point average as stated in the table above is placed on academic probation the following academic term of enrollment.

Restricted Course Load

A student who is placed on academic warning or academic probation is placed on a restricted class load to a maximum of 23 credit hours for the following academic term of enrollment.

Academic Management

A student will be placed on a one-term / one-time academic management contract if:

  1. while on academic warning, the student fails a class that was previously failed and has at least one additional active failure on their transcript,
  2. the student has failed an individual course for the third time, or
  3. the student fails to raise their cumulative grade point average to the minimal standard as stated in the table above after two consecutive terms on academic probation.

Students placed on Academic Management contract cannot be enrolled in elective courses. The terms of the management contract will be at the discretion of the College Committee on Student Promotions. Students failing to successfully complete all of the terms stated in the management contract will be dismissed from the institution. Successful completion of an Academic Management contract shall return a student to good academic standing. Subsequently, any student who meets the criteria for a second management contract will be dismissed.

Academic Dismissal

A student will be academically dismissed from the institution if they fail a management contract. A dismissed student may appeal the status in writing to the College Committee on Student Promotions. The appeal must be submitted to Student Academic Affairs Office by 4:30 p.m. on the Friday of the first week of classes in the following academic term. The committee will meet to hear appeals on the sixth day of classes.

The College Committee on Student Promotions may recommend one of the following courses of action:

  1. Uphold the Academic Dismissal,
  2. Suspend the student for a minimum of one academic term with expectations to be met during the students absence, or
  3. Place a student on a second academic management contract.

Students that receive an academic suspension from the College Committee on Student Promotions will be placed on an Academic Management contract upon return to the next term of enrollment.

During the term of Academic Suspension, the student will be considered a non-enrolled student. This status allows access to college facilities, counseling services, and academic tutorials. Non-enrolled students are not allowed to audit classes without written approval from the Office of Student Academic Affairs.
 An appeal on the decision of dismissal by the College Committee on Student Promotions may be made by the student, in writing, to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

College Committee on Student Promotions:

The mission of the College Committee on Student Promotions is to recommend students for promotion, suspension, or dismissal from the College. Recommendations are made to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Committee is also responsible for approving the Intent to Graduate List and overseeing all students under academic management.

The Committee enforces the standards for academic probation and for the management of students who do not meet minimal performance criteria. All students who are on academic probation and / or do not meet minimal performance criteria are under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Committee until their performance is acceptable.

Student progress and promotion is normal and orderly. The committee will develop policies for all variances of normal progress by students and supervise their implementation. Appeals will be acceptable only when the student abides by the committee decision and an appeal is filed within five (5) days into the subsequent academic term. A student on academic management can not be enrolled in elective courses.

Term of Appointment: All appointed faculty positions that are not Ex Officio shall not exceed a three-year period.

*NOTE: Faculty will be appointed for a three-year staggered term. Whenever possible, faculty representation will include members from the teaching, clinic, research and academic support areas.
