With its winning tradition in rugby and a worldwide reputation
as the leader in chiropractic education, Palmer College of Chiropractic
offers a special opportunity to student ruggers. Here they can pursue
a career in a leading health care profession and play on one of
the most successful rugby teams in America. If you are considering
a chiropractic career, and interested in rugby...Palmer has a tradition
of excellence in both!
With the Spring and Fall seasons, PCCRFC members are conditioned
year-round. The regular practices and weight training build up the
physical stamina of the 45 players. Playing more than a dozen matches
a year, plus tournaments, team members must meet demands of their
strength, endurance, time, and discipline.
Our teams have taken part in several major tours inclucing Aspen
Ruggerfest, St. Louis Ruggerfest, Heart of America Tournament, Battleship
Tournament, Las Vegas Invitational, Alberta Province Tour, British
Columbia Tour, Saranac lake Tournament, Minneapolis Aquatennial
Tournament, Tulane Mardi Gras Rugby Tournament, Michelob Arizona
Rugby Classic, Peachtree Tournament, and Pebble Beach Rugby Tournament.
While most players have long histories in the sport, not all are
veteran rugby players. Teammates have come to us with backgrounds
in football, hockey, wrestling, and basketball.
With rugby's global roots and popularity, many of the Palmer Rugby
Football Club's members are foreign citizens. Thanks to new international
rules, foreign students now enjoy increased opportunity in USA rugby.
A team is allowed four foreign players on the field at a time, and
players who have competed or lived in the U.S. for three years are
fully eligible. This ruling will also make more foreign players
eligible for scholarship assistance.
